Basic Petroleum Geology

Exploration and production geologists, geophysicists, and reservoir drilling and production engineers who want to understand the role of geosciences in the Petroleum Industry.

The course is designed in a workshop environment with a set of exercises covering all types of data that the geoscientists deal with on a daily basis including: logs, core, seismic lines and surface outcrops analysis. The course emphasizes on the classification of sedimentary basins, the origin and chemical composition of petroleum, the source rock, the reservoirs (carbonate and clastics) the different types of traps (structural, stratigraphic and combination).
