Advanced Reservoir Stimulation

Candidates:

Reservoir engineers who are investigating reservoir behaviour, optimizing reservoir performance and providing the basis for risk management.

Summary:

The participant will be trained in the methods and possible uses of reservoir simulators and will use simulation software for practical exercises throughout this course. Attendees should have a basic knowledge of reservoir simulation, upscaling and some experience in use of commercial reservoir simulators.

Contents:

  • General purpose model formulation versus conventional formulations.
  • General review of griddling techniques.
  • Black oil simulation
  • Compositional simulation.
  • Modeling structural elements (e.g sloping faults, channels, etc..)
  • Representing complex wells in reservoir model.
  • Simulation of fractured reservoirs and transient well test.
  • Model building procedure: from seismic to simulation.
  • Development planning & reservoir forecasts.
